Anchor Psychiatric Care

Specializing in psychiatric care for adults navigating vestibular conditions and mental health challenges.

welcome to

Patients experiencing vestibular dysfunction are too often dismissed, misunderstood, and shuffled between providers who don't connect the dots between dizziness and mental health.

"Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable." - Fred Rogers

My practice was built on decades of listening—18+ years in nursing, a decade specializing in vestibular care, and extensive experience in crisis psychiatry and behavioral health. I'm here to close the gap and to positively promote and support your recovery.

I understand the unique complexities of vestibular disorders and mental health. I am committed to creating a safe harbor to help you find your emotional footing again—with compassionate, evidence-based, and expert care that honors your whole experience.

Medication management and psychotherapy

Comprehensive and holistic psychiatric evaluations

Specialized evidenced-based psychiatric care for patients with existing vestibular disorders (dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, BPPV, Ménière's disease, vestibular migraine, vestibular neuritis, or PPPD)

Our Services

Patients will engage in an in-depth, whole-person assessment used to evaluate complex co-ocuring mental health and vestibular conditions to create an individualized and patient-centered treatment plan while exploring the root causes of psychological distress by examining the interconnectedness of biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors.

I am a board certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner who specializes in co-occurring vestibular dysfunction and mental health challenges. I am highly passionate about helping to support the recovery process while empowering patients with safe and up to date evidence-based psychiatric practices with experience in trauma informed and culturally congruent care. While vestibular dysfunction is a specialty, my comprehensive psychiatric services span adults ages 18 and older for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, and associated symptoms of insomnia and sleep disturbances.

With 10+ years experience in the vestibular realm, I have witnessed how unmanaged mental health challenges can inadvertently derail the vestibular rehabilitation process. I speak vestibular and psychiatry fluently. I understand when a patient states they feel grocery stores and open parking lots feel terrifying. I know that telling someone to “just relax” or “it’s just your anxiety” is demeaning, especially when one’s brain is misfiring balance signals.

I know which psychotropic medications can worsen vestibular symptoms and those that can potentially contribute to the recovery process if clinically indicated. Psychotropic medication may not even be clinically necessary and is never forced. You do not have to convince me your symptoms are real and you do not have to explain what vestibular dysfunction is… I already know. So let’s get started- together, by discussing your personal goals, let’s create your treatment plan together.

How I got here and What I'm building

Every step of my journey has led me to founding Anchor Psychiatric Care.

With 18 years of nursing experience—spanning emergency medicine, OBGYN, behavioral health, and over a decade working alongside vestibular specialists—I've witnessed firsthand how dizziness, vertigo, and balance disorders intertwine with anxiety and depression. This intersection is deeply personal to me and central to my practice.

I obtained my MSN as a board certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner because I believe mental health is as paramount as physical health. One of the most profound things I've learned in my lifetime is simple: people just want to be truly heard. Anchor Psychiatric Care is rooted in that principle—ensuring every individual feels respected and profoundly understood.

On a personal level, I chose the word Anchor to honor my grandfather "Poppy," a Navy veteran who taught me what it means to be steady, to show up, and to serve. This practice is my way of carrying his legacy forward—creating a safe harbor for those who feel unmoored, just as he was a steady anchor for me.

Q: Does Anchor Psychiatric Care accept insurance?

Anchor Psychiatric Care is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance on your behalf, but you will have access to your paid invoices via your patient portal to submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement. Our private pay rates are set approximately 25% below current market rates. Payment is due in full prior to each appointment. Fees are the same for in-person and telehealth visits:

  • New patient comprehensive psychiatric evaluation (60 minutes): $250
  • Follow-up appointment (30 minutes): $125

Q: What does a new patient 60-minute comprehensive psychiatric evaluation involve?

Think of our first meeting as a deep dive into your unique story- you get to choose the depth you would like to go that feels safe for you. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation isn't just a checklist of symptoms—it's a collaborative conversation where we explore the whole picture together. We'll spend an hour discussing what you're currently experiencing, your treatment goals, physical health, personal history, and daily patterns like sleep, diet, and self-care. By the end, we won't just have a diagnosis—we'll have a roadmap for your care that's grounded in science and designed around your personal goals.

Q: What happens during a 30-minute follow-up appointment?

Follow-up appointments are a chance to check in on your progress together. Healing isn't always linear, so these visits give you space to voice concerns, ask questions, and make any treatment adjustments as needed to support your success.

Q: How many follow-up appointments will I need until I achieve my treatment goals?

The number of follow-up appointments varies from person to person. Some patients notice improvement within a few weeks; others benefit from more frequent visits for closer monitoring. Whatever your path looks like, we're here to guide you through it.

Q: Do I have to take psychiatric medication?

No. Medication is only one tool among many therapeutic strategies available for treatment. Starting psychiatric medication is always a collaborative decision based on your unique medical and psychiatric picture—and it's never forced. For some patients, non-medication approaches may be the right path.

Q: Can I make an appointment for psychiatric services even if I don't have a vestibular disorder?

Absolutely. While Anchor Psychiatric Care has specialized expertise in the connection between vestibular disorders and mental health, we provide comprehensive psychiatric services for all adults 18 and older experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, and related concerns like insomnia and sleep disturbances.

Q: What happens if I cry or get emotionally overwhelmed during my visit?

You're in a safe space here. Crying is a natural and healthy release, and emotional moments are welcomed without judgment. Our training helps us navigate intense emotions with you—not around them.

Q: How do I reach you in between appointments?

You can reach us anytime through your free, secure patient portal. Please note this is a non-urgent messaging service—expect a response within 24–48 business hours via your patient portal. For urgent/emergency medical or psychiatric concerns, please call 911 or 988 for immediate assistance.

Q: Can a family member or loved one join me for my appointment?

Many patients find comfort in having support, especially for the initial evaluation. You're welcome to bring one adult support person per visit. Just know the focus will remain on you and your needs.

Q: Will you help me coordinate care with my other providers?

Yes- with your explicit consent. Integrated care matters, and we're glad to collaborate with your health care team to ensure every part of your treatment plan is anchored together.

Q: Does Anchor Psychiatric Care evaluate and treat vestibular disorders?

We do not diagnose or treat vestibular disorders directly. Our specialty lies in the mental health conditions that often accompany dizziness and balance issues.

Q: Do you prescribe or give refills for controlled substances/medications?

Anchor Psychiatric Care does not prescribe or refill controlled substances, including stimulants and benzodiazepines. Our approach emphasizes medication options and therapeutic strategies that support long-term mental health sustainability.

Q: What should I do to prepare for my first appointment?

Before your first visit, you'll receive intake paperwork through your secure patient portal—please complete this ahead of time so we can make the most of our hour together. It's also helpful to bring a list of current medications (including supplements), any relevant medical records you'd like to share, and a sense of what you're hoping to address. There are no wrong answers and no need to have everything figured out. Just come as you are.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice so that your time slot may be offered to another patient. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged the full session fee. Exceptions for true emergencies are made solely at the clinician's discretion.

Q: How does telehealth work?

Telehealth appointments happen through your secure, HIPAA-compliant patient portal accessible from your computer, tablet, or smartphone via your Simple Practice link. You'll receive a link via email through your patient portal prior to your scheduled appointment. You do not need to download external sources outside of your Simple Practice portal for your telehealth appointment. Find a private, quiet space with a stable internet connection, and log in a few minutes early to test your setup. Telehealth visits are upheld to the same standard of care guidelines as in-person appointments and fees are the same rate as in-person appointments. Please note all telehealth visits are to be conducted within the State of Texas as required by law.
