Q: Does Anchor Psychiatric Care accept insurance?
Anchor Psychiatric Care is a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance on your behalf, but you will have access to your paid invoices via your patient portal to submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement. Our private pay rates are set approximately 25% below current market rates. Payment is due in full prior to each appointment. Fees are the same for in-person and telehealth visits:
- New patient comprehensive psychiatric evaluation (60 minutes): $250
- Follow-up appointment (30 minutes): $125
Q: What does a new patient 60-minute comprehensive psychiatric evaluation involve?
Think of our first meeting as a deep dive into your unique story- you get to choose the depth you would like to go that feels safe for you. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation isn't just a checklist of symptoms—it's a collaborative conversation where we explore the whole picture together. We'll spend an hour discussing what you're currently experiencing, your treatment goals, physical health, personal history, and daily patterns like sleep, diet, and self-care. By the end, we won't just have a diagnosis—we'll have a roadmap for your care that's grounded in science and designed around your personal goals.
Q: What happens during a 30-minute follow-up appointment?
Follow-up appointments are a chance to check in on your progress together. Healing isn't always linear, so these visits give you space to voice concerns, ask questions, and make any treatment adjustments as needed to support your success.
Q: How many follow-up appointments will I need until I achieve my treatment goals?
The number of follow-up appointments varies from person to person. Some patients notice improvement within a few weeks; others benefit from more frequent visits for closer monitoring. Whatever your path looks like, we're here to guide you through it.
Q: Do I have to take psychiatric medication?
No. Medication is only one tool among many therapeutic strategies available for treatment. Starting psychiatric medication is always a collaborative decision based on your unique medical and psychiatric picture—and it's never forced. For some patients, non-medication approaches may be the right path.
Q: Can I make an appointment for psychiatric services even if I don't have a vestibular disorder?
Absolutely. While Anchor Psychiatric Care has specialized expertise in the connection between vestibular disorders and mental health, we provide comprehensive psychiatric services for all adults 18 and older experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, and related concerns like insomnia and sleep disturbances.
Q: What happens if I cry or get emotionally overwhelmed during my visit?
You're in a safe space here. Crying is a natural and healthy release, and emotional moments are welcomed without judgment. Our training helps us navigate intense emotions with you—not around them.
Q: How do I reach you in between appointments?
You can reach us anytime through your free, secure patient portal. Please note this is a non-urgent messaging service—expect a response within 24–48 business hours via your patient portal. For urgent/emergency medical or psychiatric concerns, please call 911 or 988 for immediate assistance.
Q: Can a family member or loved one join me for my appointment?
Many patients find comfort in having support, especially for the initial evaluation. You're welcome to bring one adult support person per visit. Just know the focus will remain on you and your needs.
Q: Will you help me coordinate care with my other providers?
Yes- with your explicit consent. Integrated care matters, and we're glad to collaborate with your health care team to ensure every part of your treatment plan is anchored together.
Q: Does Anchor Psychiatric Care evaluate and treat vestibular disorders?
We do not diagnose or treat vestibular disorders directly. Our specialty lies in the mental health conditions that often accompany dizziness and balance issues.
Q: Do you prescribe or give refills for controlled substances/medications?
Anchor Psychiatric Care does not prescribe or refill controlled substances, including stimulants and benzodiazepines. Our approach emphasizes medication options and therapeutic strategies that support long-term mental health sustainability.
Q: What should I do to prepare for my first appointment?
Before your first visit, you'll receive intake paperwork through your secure patient portal—please complete this ahead of time so we can make the most of our hour together. It's also helpful to bring a list of current medications (including supplements), any relevant medical records you'd like to share, and a sense of what you're hoping to address. There are no wrong answers and no need to have everything figured out. Just come as you are.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice so that your time slot may be offered to another patient. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged the full session fee.
Exceptions for true emergencies are made solely at the clinician's discretion.Q: How does telehealth work?
Telehealth appointments happen through your secure, HIPAA-compliant patient portal accessible from your computer, tablet, or smartphone via your Simple Practice link. You'll receive a link via email through your patient portal prior to your scheduled appointment. You do not need to download external sources outside of your Simple Practice portal for your telehealth appointment. Find a private, quiet space with a stable internet connection, and log in a few minutes early to test your setup. Telehealth visits are upheld to the same standard of care guidelines as in-person appointments and fees are the same rate as in-person appointments. Please note all telehealth visits are to be conducted within the State of Texas as required by law.
